Jeneen holds an MFA in Painting from AU, a BA in Art from Swarthmore College, 500+ hour Sri Yoga TT, 4 yr Integrated Alignment (Subtle Energy & Sound Healing) certificates, and many other formal trainings including Pranayama, Pre-natal Yoga, Budding Yogis (childrens yoga), QiGong, Mantra, Meditation, Sacred Geometry, Crystal Healing, Light Work, Tantric Dance and Bellydance. In addition she has studied in various yoga traditions including: ashtanga, integral, jivamukti, Dharma yoga, synergy yoga and synergy dance.
Her art, like her life, is interdisciplinary and integrative and currently encompasses painting, printmaking, installation and fiber arts. She most often incorporates “mixed media” into her work and is inspired by Nature. Her current series, "Lunar Meditations", is based on ink drawings she created during the Solar Eclipse of 2017. Her previous series, "Sky Meditations" are intimately scaled portraits of the bare horizon, all painted plein air, as a symbol of our vastness.
She has apprenticed with Master sound healers Triz Remedios and Andreas Mamet, and has been integrating sound tools into her various classes for the last 10 years. She now trains others to use sound tools in their private and public practices. She has been a professional Artist for 30 years, a professional Bellydancer for 20 years, and a certified Yoga teacher for 15 years.
From her earliest teaching days, she has always integrated dance, music, sound, healing, yoga, art and meditation in creative and innovative ways. Painting Sound, for example, is a grant funded collaboration with internationally known musician Tom Teasley, that was launched in 1998.
Jeneen has been on faculty at American University, Georgetown University, University of MD, Swarthmore College, Dartmouth College, Washington Studio School, Flow Yoga Center, 18th and Yoga, River's Edge Yoga, DC Dance Collective, Local Motion Studio, Thomas Circle Sports Club, AHA yoga studio and many others throughout her 28 years of leading classes & workshops. She has exhibited her paintings widely both regionally and internationally and has danced in several professional bellydance troupes, including Ancient Rhythms and Benat Baharat.
She currently is the lead Teaching Artist at the Kreeger Museum (and has been for the last 20 years), is a Performance Artist with Young Audiences of Virginia (providing and implementing creative programs that integrate dance and art) and leads innovative large scale public programs in collaboration with area studios that include sound healing, meditation, movement and art. A sampling of venues and events she has led and is leading sound healing at include: Kennedy Center/NSO, The Phillips Collection, Dupont Underground, Art all Night, National Building Museum, The National Gallery of Art, The Renwick Gallery, The Kreeger Museum, Down in the Reeds Festival, Cherry Blossom Festival, Air & Space Museum and Yogaville.
She also works with Cancer Survivors at Life With Cancer (an INNOVA program) and leads immersive art, yoga, meditation, dance & sound healing workshops/retreats/teacher trainings/series in DC-MD-VA and abroad. She is the founder of The Luna Girls, Art-trekking, Yoga.Here.Now, Girls with Gongs, Sound Healing Sangha and Soul Voyage Retreats.
