Notes from the other Side (of "social" media)

I am starting week 4 of having all social media apps deleted off my phone. To be clear, I didn't delete my accounts, and I can still hop on to post occasionally for my business (sometimes an employer asks me to) using the web portal. This feels incredibly time-consuming, cumbersome, and s-l-o-w. But that's the point. The ease of the connection and the downside of the immediacy, are what I am exploring. We tend to equate speed with efficiency and judge what's easier as better. Of course, I don't believe in absolutes or generalizations. Nothing is all one thing. And the question I always come back to is: at what price? Because there is a hidden (or apparent) cost to all things. An exchange. Often it's energetic, sometimes it's literal time or money. Many people consider the costs in time/money or more tangible consequences/benefits as higher in value than energy, mood, breath, quality of mind, presence. But not me. Energy is my everything.
